The Federal Board of Revenue Tuesday informed the Senate Special Committee on Tobacco Taxation that the FBR is taking effective measures to check inflow of non-duty paid cigarettes from Azad Kashmir and tribal areas, and two new check posts are being established to control the movement of smuggled cigarettes into tariff areas of Pakistan.

The Senate Special Committee on Tobacco Taxation met here at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Kulsoom Perveen.

Tax authorities informed the special committee that non-duty paid cigarettes are being manufactured in the AJK and tribal areas and steps are being taken to control manufacturing and movement of such smuggled and non-duty paid cigarettes in tariff areas.
